Notably Maharashtra's oldest and largest National Park, the "Tadoba National Park", also known as the "Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve" is one of India's 47 project tiger reserves existing in India. It lies in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra state and is approximately 150 km from Nagpur city. The total area of the tiger reserve is 1,727 Sq.km, which includes the Tadoba National Park, created in the year 1955. The Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary was formed in the year 1986 and was amalgamated with the park in 1995 to establish the present Tadoba Andheri Tiger Reserve. The word 'Tadoba' is derived from the name of God "Tadoba" or "Taru," which is praised by local tribal people of this region and "Andhari" is derived from the name of Andhari river that flows in this area.

Here’s a detailed itinerary for a Tadoba Tiger Safari Tour:
Day 1: Arrival in Tadoba & First Safari

8:00 AM: Arrive at Nagpur Airport/Railhead.

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Check-in at the hotel in Tadoba, relax and unwind.

1:30 PM: Enjoy a delicious lunch at the hotel.

2:30 PM - 6:00 PM: Embark on your first Tiger Safari in Tadoba National Park. Explore the wildlife, keeping your eyes peeled for tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and other unique fauna.

7:00 PM: Return to the hotel for dinner and relaxation.
Day 2-3: Safaris & Photography Sessions

5:30 AM: Early morning safari, catching the park at its most active time. Spot tigers, other big cats, and wildlife.

10:00 AM: Return to the hotel for breakfast.

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM: Free time to relax or explore the surroundings.

1:00 PM: Lunch at the hotel.

2:30 PM - 6:00 PM: Evening safari to discover the park's wildlife during the more incredible hours.

8:00 PM: Indoor Photography Session by Pratik Pradhan. Learn techniques on wildlife photography, focusing on capturing the essence of the safari experiences.

5:30 AM: Morning safari to catch the animals at dawn, often a great time to spot tigers on the move.

10:00 AM: Return to the hotel for breakfast.

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM: Free time for relaxation or exploring local surroundings.

2:30 PM - 6:00 PM: Evening safari for another chance to spot wildlife and immerse yourself in the jungle.

Day 4: Final Safari & Departure

5:30 AM: Final morning safari to make the most of your last chance to witness the wild beauty of Tadoba.

11:00 AM: Check-out from the hotel.

11:30 AM: Transfer back to Nagpur Airport/Railhead, depending on your departure timings.

Safari Timings: Safari timings will vary according to season/month

Photography Equipment: Bring your camera with long zoom lenses for wildlife photography and a tripod for stability.

Ideally, 300mm and above lenses are recommended; having a 70-200 f/2.8 or 16-36 f/2.8 would be very helpful for closer sightings of animals, and a wide-angle lens would be helpful for landscape photography.

Clothing: Dress in light, neutral colors to blend into the environment. Bring comfortable walking shoes, hats, and sunscreen for safaris.

Fitness: Safaris can involve long periods of sitting in vehicles. So suitable for most people.
